David Salters Leaves HRC US, Kelvin Fu Takes Over as President

David Salters, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) US, has officially left the organization. This marks the end of a leadership era that brought significant success for Honda in American motorsport.

Salters joined Honda in 2015 as chief engineer and engine technical leader before being appointed President of HRC US in 2020. Under his direction, Honda secured three IndyCar manufacturer titles, including this year's triumph over Chevrolet, as well as the 2022 IMSA championship.

Now, the leadership baton passes to Kelvin Fu, who previously served as HRC US Vice President. Fu will officially assume the role on September 12, while Salters leaves the racing industry altogether to join a technology startup.

Salters also emphasized that the timing is perfect for this transition. "Now is the perfect time to pass the baton to Kelvin. We have worked closely over the last six years, and Kelvin is the ideal person to support and lead the HRC US team into the future."

Fu brings a background in aerospace and postdoctoral engineering research. He began his career at Honda in 2015 in chassis design and aerodynamics before being promoted to vice president in 2021. "When I joined HRC US, I never imagined that one day I would have the privilege of leading this extraordinary organization," said Fu. "I am truly humbled by the opportunity. I want to sincerely thank David Salters for his leadership, friendship and mentorship. Dave challenged all of us to think bigger, move faster and never lose sight of the fact that we are competitors at heart."

This leadership change marks a significant moment for HRC US, now gearing up for a new era under Fu. With his experience and vision, many are eager to see how he will steer Honda to further glory in American racing.
