Rising star David Alonso has officially stated that the LCR structure provides the ideal environment to kick off his premier class career when he steps up to MotoGP for the 2027 season. This confirmation arrives following Honda's announcement regarding its rider lineup, where the former Moto3 champion will prepare to tackle the brand-new 850cc engine regulations and Pirelli tires.
Prior to this official confirmation, the paddock was swirling with speculation regarding where the young talent would land after he was initially signed by the Japanese manufacturer earlier in July. This situation put him in a direct head-to-head battle with reigning Moto2 champion and current LCR rookie Diogo Moreira for the remaining factory HRC seat alongside Fabio Quartararo.
Ultimately, Honda opted to promote Moreira to the factory squad, paving the way for Alonso to slot into the LCR garage alongside seasoned campaigner Johann Zarco. Reflecting on this massive career milestone, the young sensation expressed immense excitement as he prepares for a brand-new chapter in grand prix racing.

I am incredibly excited and can't wait to make the step up to MotoGP with a team like Honda LCR, the rider stated following the official announcement. They are a highly professional team with a wealth of experience, and I believe it's the perfect place to start my MotoGP adaptation and learning process.
LCR team principal Lucio Cecchinello warmly welcomed the arrival of the talented youngster who has consistently demonstrated formidable speed and determination in the intermediate class. The squad looks forward to working collaboratively toward shared goals as they enter an exciting new era of motorcycle racing.
