Daniel Holgado secured a brilliant Moto2 victory at the Lusail International Circuit following an impressive performance that completely reshaped the championship battle. The battle at the front reached a boiling point when he snatched the race lead from Aleix Escrig on lap 14, before pulling away to cross the finish line in first place.
Late-race drama unfolded right at the checkered flag as Ivan Ortola lunged forward in a thrilling drag race to snatch second place. Ortola edged out Escrig by a mere 0.020 seconds, leaving the pole-sitter to settle for third after a brave defensive ride from the front of the grid.
Further down the order, David Alonso claimed a solid fourth place ahead of Daniel Munoz in fifth. However, the biggest tactical winner under the Doha floodlights was championship leader Manuel Gonzalez.

Although the Spanish rider could only manage a sixth-place finish after running as high as third early on, the outcome proved vital for his title ambitions. His main championship rival, Izan Guevara, suffered a devastating mechanical failure that forced an early retirement, marking a major setback in the title chase.
With only two rounds remaining in the season and 50 points still up for grabs, the drama in Qatar could serve as the ultimate turning point of the campaign. Gonzalez's Intact GP team-mate Senna Agius crossed the line seventh, just ahead of charging rookie Jose Antonio Rueda.
