The Supercars race weekend at the Gold Coast left a lasting impression for Chaz Mostert after the Walkinshaw TWG Racing star admitted that his race frustration stemmed entirely from his own qualifying mistakes. Despite backing up his Saturday victory with a hard-fought third-place finish in Sunday's second race, the afternoon was far from straightforward for the veteran driver.
Starting down in eighth position on the grid, Mostert charged through the field with remarkable pace and was rapidly closing the gap to race leaders Broc Feeney and Brodie Kostecki with just 15 laps remaining in the grueling encounter.
The dynamic shifted dramatically when engineer Sam Scaffidi asked Mostert via team radio to drop back and assist teammate Ryan Wood in his bid to advance through the finals bracket. Broadcasted live on television, the radio exchange captured a visibly frustrated Mostert pushing back against the strategic command.

"What? You want me to come back again now, are you sure?" Mostert fired back over the team radio when urged to back off with 13 laps left on the board, questioning the timing while he was actively fighting for victory.
Addressing the paddock post-race, Mostert clarified that any irritation during the race was directed squarely at his earlier errors in the Top 10 Shootout. He emphasized that when a driver has the fastest machinery on track, executing every single lap flawlessly is absolute mandatory.
