Charles Leclerc has openly admitted that both Ferrari drivers have occasionally crossed the line during wheel-to-wheel battles throughout the Formula 1 season. This internal dynamic takes center stage ahead of the upcoming grand prix as both drivers lock out close grid positions.
Heading into Sunday's United States Grand Prix at the Austin circuit, Charles Leclerc is set to start from fourth position on the grid, just directly ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton in fifth. This close proximity instantly revives memories of their opening-lap contact at Monza earlier this year, where aggressive maneuvering at Turn 1 created chaos for the Maranello squad.
Reflecting on the fiery Monza clash, Lewis Hamilton previously voiced strong criticism after being pushed off the track during a tight sequence of corners. Charles Leclerc ultimately suffered a race-ending crash on just the second lap, while the British world champion managed an impressive recovery drive from deep in the field to finish sixth.

Despite the high-stakes run up the hill toward Turn 1 at COTA, Charles Leclerc assured supporters that strict team orders or restrictive new rules are entirely unnecessary. Both drivers are fully aware of the boundaries required to prevent any detrimental on-track collisions between teammates.
"No, we know what is the line not to cross, and again I think we’ve got some occasions throughout the year where I’ve crossed it, Lewis Hamilton crossed it and we don’t want to see that," Charles Leclerc explained regarding their mutual understanding on track.

Teamwork remains an essential element for Ferrari as they navigate the remainder of the grand prix weekend. While traditional tactical games seen on slower circuits might not apply here, keeping clear of each other during the chaotic opening moments remains the safest bet for a successful result.
