Charles Leclerc Confirms No F1 Race Absence Ahead of First Child Birth in 2026

Charles Leclerc has confirmed that he does not expect to miss any of the remaining six Formula 1 races of the 2026 season, despite the imminent birth of his first child falling right into a brutal end-of-year schedule.

The Ferrari driver and his wife Alexandra are expecting their first child following their marriage in February. The due date is slated to arrive during a relentless phase of the F1 calendar featuring two demanding triple-headers.

The United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas kicks off the first triple-header this weekend, followed by back-to-back rounds in Mexico and Brazil. After a single weekend off, teams will face the final grueling triple-header across Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

Speaking during media day in Austin regarding whether he might skip a grand prix, the Monegasque ace emphasized that he will do everything possible to balance family time at home between races, even if it means altering his usual travel schedule to the track.

"No, I don’t think I’ll miss a race," Leclerc explained to Motorsport.com and other media outlets. "I don’t think I’ll miss a race, but obviously I’ll do absolutely everything to be at home as much as possible in between those races."

"So, I might arrive a little bit late. But I will be doing the races on Sunday," he added.

Arriving in Austin sitting fifth in the drivers' standings with 215 points—trailing championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 125 points—Leclerc also previewed a tightly contested battle among the top four constructors this weekend.
