The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season has officially drawn to a close with a thrilling finale at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza, where Cadillac secured their first victory of the year. The trio of Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais, and Jack Aitken delivered a stellar performance behind the wheel of the V-Series.R, holding off intense pressure until the checkered flag dropped. A late-race fuel-saving drama nearly derailed their campaign before they ultimately claimed the top step of the podium.
The race instantly delivered high drama from the moment the lights went out. Antonio Fuoco started from pole position but immediately faced heavy challenges as Daniel Juncadella briefly snatched the lead in the Genesis GMR-001. However, the order shifted quickly once Jack Aitken executed a brilliant maneuver to take charge, guiding the American machine into a commanding lead that they would fiercely protect for the majority of the distance.
Tensions reached a fever pitch in the closing minutes when the leading Cadillac was forced to heavily conserve fuel to make it to the finish. This opened the door for Jules Gounon and Victor Martins to rapidly close the gap in their Alpine A424. Despite the late charge from the French outfit, the Cadillac held firm to cross the line first, leaving Alpine to settle for a hard-fought second place in what is widely expected to be the final outing for the A424.

The battle for the final podium spot was equally intense, featuring a late surge from the Aston Martin Valkyrie driven by Tom Gamble and Harry Tincknell. Gamble's impressive pace allowed him to overtake Antonio Giovinazzi in the dying stages. However, a post-race penalty handed to the Aston Martin squad dashed their podium hopes, reinstating Giovinazzi alongside James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi onto the podium for Ferrari's emotional home race.
Meanwhile, Toyota endured a surprisingly subdued weekend, finishing outside the points scoring positions. Nevertheless, the coveted WEC drivers' world championship crown safely went to the crew of Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa following their strong campaign. In the LMGT3 class, victory at Monza went to the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Richard Lietz, Riccardo Pera, and Yasser Shahin.
