Marco Bezzecchi made a stunning return from injury by smashing the Silverstone lap record to lead MotoGP Practice at the British Grand Prix.
The Aprilia rider clocked a 1m56.280s in the closing stages of Friday's session, finishing 0.335s clear of the field. Before this, no one had ever dipped below the 1m57s mark at this high-speed circuit.
Ai Ogura was the first to break the old record with a 1m56.810s, but Bezzecchi's stunning late lap stole the spotlight.

Bezzecchi's performance was particularly impressive given he spent the summer break recovering from a collarbone injury sustained at the German GP. His teammate Raul Fernandez took second, just 0.335s behind.
Championship leader Jorge Martin was fourth, half a second adrift, while Marc Marquez finished sixth despite also beating the previous lap record. Meanwhile, Pecco Bagnaia crashed at Stowe and ended up 13th, forcing him into Q1.
