The season to date has been largely dominated by Ford teams and there’s no shortage of strong line-ups among the Blue Oval brigade heading into the legendary showdown at Mount Panorama. Heavyweights Grove Racing and Triple Eight both have two entries expected to contend, with the former team looking to go back-to-back in this prestigious endurance classic.
Grove’s line-ups of Matt Payne/Will Davison and Kai Allen/Tim Slade mix fast young primaries with veteran co-drivers, while the team has gained a reputation for strategic nous on the pit wall that often dictates the outcome of long races.
T8’s entries of Broc Feeney/Nick Percat and Will Brown/Scott Pye came unstuck during the early co-driver laps at The Bend but are likely to bounce back strongly. Meanwhile, the Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood pairing from Dick Johnson Racing and Cam Waters/Mark Winterbottom from Tickford Racing Mustangs will also start among the firm favourites.

Last year’s rain-hit race aside, Brodie Kostecki has a formidable Bathurst scorecard and is gunning for a record-breaking fourth-straight pole position. Kostecki also scored pole for The Bend 500, but the Walkinshaw TWG Toyota Supras proved the cars to have in the race itself.
Both the Chaz Mostert/Fabian Coulthard and Ryan Wood/Jaxon Evans entries are potential winners, pending an ongoing reliability cloud. The B-spec engines in the Toyotas made it through The Bend unscathed, but 1000km at Bathurst is undoubtedly a greater challenge than a wet and ultimately shortened first enduro.
