Bagnaia Closes In on Marquez and Martin in MotoGP Sprint Wins List

Francesco Bagnaia secured his first Sprint victory of the 2026 MotoGP season at Brno, ending a lengthy wait for a Saturday win and strengthening his position among the most successful Sprint riders in championship history.

The Brno success marked Bagnaia’s 14th MotoGP Sprint victory since the format was introduced in 2023. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider remains third on the all-time list but has reduced the gap to leaders Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez, who are tied at the top with 18 Sprint wins each.

The trio have dominated the Sprint era since its introduction. Bagnaia captured the MotoGP world title in 2023, Martin followed with the championship in 2024, while Marquez arrived at Brno as the reigning world champion after securing the 2025 crown.

However, the 2026 season has also seen new names added to the Sprint winners list. Pedro Acosta claimed his maiden Sprint victory in Thailand, while Raul Fernandez earned his first Sprint success at Mugello with the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team.

Behind the leading trio, Alex Marquez sits fourth in the all-time rankings with six Sprint victories. Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi occupies fifth place with four Sprint wins, highlighting his consistent performance in the Saturday format over the past two seasons.

With more than half of the 2026 campaign still remaining, the battle to add further Sprint victories is expected to intensify. Bagnaia now has a realistic opportunity to challenge Martin and Marquez at the top of the standings, while younger riders such as Acosta and Fernandez continue to establish themselves among MotoGP’s Sprint race specialists.
