Aprilia has hinted at the possibility of implementing team orders during the final two rounds of the 2026 MotoGP world championship, though for now, its riders remain completely free to race each other on track.
The title race has intensified dramatically with Jorge Martin leading the championship standings. However, seven-time world champion Marc Marquez sits right behind him, trailing by a mere two points following the dramatic Indonesian Grand Prix.
Despite taking victory at Mandalika, Martin's teammate Marco Bezzecchi remains 46 points adrift in the standings. The internal dynamic is further complicated by the fact that championship leader Martin is on an expiring contract ahead of a switch to Yamaha in 2027, whereas Bezzecchi is locked into a multi-year deal through 2028.

Speaking to MotoGP.com after the Indonesian GP, Aprilia motorsport boss Massimo Rivola explained the factory's stance on the mathematical possibilities. "I mean, we said it since the beginning, that while the mathematics are open, it's open," Rivola stated, adding that while having multiple competitive bikes is great for the brand, it does risk stealing points internally.
Technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini echoed that everyone is currently free to race, though management has started discussing internal guidelines to prevent avoidable on-track collisions, referencing previous incidents involving Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez.
