David Almansa asserted his dominance in the Moto3 practice session at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix. The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider set the fastest time of 1:39.668 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on Friday (18/9). His lap was the only one to break into the 1:39s, signaling his intent for the weekend.
The session was closely contested. Maximo Quiles of CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team had to settle for second, 0.195 seconds adrift. Alvaro Carpe from Red Bull KTM Ajo completed the top three, 0.503 seconds back. Matteo Bertelle (LEVEL UP - MTA) and Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) followed in fourth and fifth.
For Indonesian fans, Veda Pratama was in focus. The Honda Team Asia rider finished 18th with a time of 1:40.773, 1.105 seconds behind Almansa. However, practice remains an opportunity for Veda to find the best setup ahead of qualifying.
Malaysian rider Hakim Danish of AEON Credit - MT Helmets - MSI was sixth with a 1:40.289. He was followed by Joel Esteban (LEVEL UP - MTA) and Rico Salmela (Red Bull KTM Tech3) in seventh and eighth. Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power) and Ryusei Yamanaka (AEON Credit - MT Helmets - MSI) rounded out the top ten.
The track conditions were dry with an air temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and 72% humidity. Track temperature was 18 degrees Celsius, providing a challenging grip level for the riders. This practice session was crucial for teams to gather data before qualifying and the race.
With this result, David Almansa has shown he is a strong candidate for pole position. However, rivals like Quiles and Carpe will not back down. The Moto3 qualifying in Austria will be the real test for these young riders.
Meanwhile, Veda Pratama still has a chance to improve his position. Support from Honda Team Asia and experience at the Austrian circuit will be valuable assets. We look forward to Veda's performance in qualifying.
