Alex Marquez Officially Joins KTM Factory for 2027

Alex Marquez has officially joined KTM Factory for MotoGP 2027, marking his return to factory rider status for the first season of the 850cc regulations.

Marquez’s move is a key part of the major 2027 MotoGP grid reset, with the premier class switching from 1000cc to 850cc engines, banning ride-height devices, reducing aero, and moving from Michelin to Pirelli tyres.

At KTM, Marquez will partner Fabio di Giannantonio after the Austrian manufacturer completed its factory team line-up. Both riders arrive from the satellite Ducati environment, making KTM’s 2027 pairing one of the most significant changes in the rider market.

Alex Marquez returns to a factory seat for the first time since his rookie season with Repsol Honda. The move also keeps the Tech3 seats in focus, with Guenther Steiner seeking one experienced rider and one rookie to complete KTM’s broader structure.

KTM’s confirmation comes amid a highly active rider market. Ducati has retained Marc Marquez and signed Pedro Acosta to replace Pecco Bagnaia, while Bagnaia has moved to Aprilia on a four-year contract.

Yamaha has also reshaped its rider line-up by parting ways with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins before announcing Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura. Gresini, meanwhile, has confirmed Joan Mir and Dani Holgado as part of its 2027 structure.

Marquez’s confirmed KTM Factory move underlines that MotoGP 2027 is not only a technical transition, but also a major reset in rider composition. With 850cc engines, Pirelli tyres and several headline transfers, the competitive balance between manufacturers could shift from the start of the new era.
