AIX Racing has finally clarified its driver lineup for the final two rounds of the 2026 Formula 3 season. Ricardo Escotto has been officially confirmed as the replacement for Brad Benavides, who will miss the remainder of the campaign due to a back injury sustained earlier this year.
Benavides suffered a broken vertebra after a first-lap crash in Monaco, which required hospital treatment. Despite hoping to make a comeback before the season's end, his condition has made it impossible to return to the FIA Formula 3 grid.
Kenny Kirwan, AIX Racing Team Manager, expressed deep gratitude for Benavides' commitment over the past two seasons. "He has been a committed and professional member of our family," Kirwan said. "We wish Brad every success in his future racing career and personal endeavors."
Escotto, who had already stepped in for Benavides at Barcelona, Silverstone, and Spa, will now take the seat full-time for Monza and Madrid. His best result so far was 22nd in the Barcelona and Spa Sprint Races, but the team believes he has made significant strides.
"We're delighted to welcome Ricardo back for the remaining rounds," Kirwan added. "He has shown great progress through hard work behind the scenes with the engineers. His attitude and determination have been excellent, and we're looking forward to seeing him build on that progress."
The Madrid round will feature a different format with two feature races instead of the usual sprint-feature schedule. That gives Escotto a prime opportunity to score points and impress teams enough to secure a seat on the 2027 grid.
