Senna Agius made a stunning start to the Moto2 Misano 2026 practice session. The Senna Agius not only led the field but also shattered the lap record with a time of 1'34.142, outpacing his rivals and securing a spot in Q2.
His Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP teammate, championship leader Manuel Gonzalez, had to settle for second, just 0.120 seconds adrift. Gonzalez was down in 10th before a late surge. Meanwhile, David Alonso of CFMoto Aspar showed competitive pace to take third, only 0.133 seconds behind Agius.
Collin Veijer of Red Bull KTM Ajo split the Aspar duo in fourth, followed by Daniel Holgado in fifth. Tony Arbolino of REDS Fantic Racing recovered from an earlier incident with Alonso, who gestured at him, to finish sixth, ahead of teammate Barry Baltus and top Boscoscuro rider Izan Guevara in eighth.
Alonso Lopez, the Aragon winner, had to settle for ninth, with Filip Salac completing the top ten. Celestino Vietti, the 2025 Misano winner, nearly missed Q2 after languishing in 17th late on. However, a brilliant final lap vaulted him to 11th and into Q2. Consequently, rookie Angel Piqueras dropped to 12th, followed by Ivan Ortola in 13th.
The final Q2 spot went to rookie Alberto Ferrandez of BluCru Pramac Yamaha, while Daniel Munoz was pushed down to 15th by Vietti's late charge. Aron Canet also missed out and will start from 16th, the best of the Elf Marc VDS riders. Alex Escrig, usually strong, struggled and could only manage 23rd. Marcos Ramirez, returning for Misano, was 18th.
With these practice results, the Moto2 battle is heating up. Agius has shown he is ready to challenge Gonzalez for the title, while rookies like Piqueras and Ferrandez are also showing potential. Qualifying will determine who starts from pole.
