The opening practice session at the Circuit of the Americas immediately delivered intense competition among top contenders, with Charles Leclerc successfully securing the top spot.
As the pit lane opened in Austin, drivers rushed onto the circuit to dial in their optimal setups. Leclerc put on an impressive display to set the fastest lap time aboard his Ferrari, edging out his closest rivals right from the get-go.
Right behind the Monegasque driver, Max Verstappen slotting into second place with a razor-thin margin of just 0.084 seconds. Meanwhile, third position belonged to Lando Norris as he pushed hard to match the leading pace throughout the session.

The opening session was also marked by various on-track dramas. Several drivers had their lap times deleted by race control for exceeding track limits. Isack Hadjar showed promising pace capable of breaking into the top six, but lap deletions ultimately dropped him down to 14th place.
Technical gremlins also disrupted proceedings during the first practice. Alex Albon failed to post a representative lap time for Williams, while Nico Hulkenberg was forced to park his car early due to a technical issue. This session sets up an unpredictable remainder of the weekend.
