The opening practice session of the Mexico Grand Prix weekend at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez saw Charles Leclerc set the pace, topping the timesheets to give Scuderia Ferrari a strong start. The Monegasque driver continues his pursuit of a first victory since taking the chequered flag at the British Grand Prix, showing immediate speed in the high-altitude conditions.
Ferrari's impressive start was bolstered by Lewis Hamilton, who finished the session in fourth place, 0.738 seconds adrift of his teammate. The Italian squad maintained a promising momentum following their encouraging Friday showing at the United States Grand Prix a week prior.
Meanwhile, Mercedes delivered a stellar performance to lock out the second and third positions on the timesheets. Kimi Antonelli emerged in second place, closely followed by Frederik Vesti in third as both youngsters capitalized on early track evolution.

In the Red Bull Racing garage, Ayumu Iwasa stepped in to pilot the car in place of Max Verstappen for FP1. The Japanese driver put in a commendable shift, finishing fifth fastest and within a second of the benchmark time set by Leclerc.
Rounding out the top ten placings, Pierre Gasly secured sixth for Alpine ahead of Fernando Alonso representing Aston Martin in seventh. Oscar Piastri placed eighth for McLaren, while British talents Oliver Bearman and Arvid Lindblad wrapped up the top ten positions in ninth and tenth respectively.
