Ducati has officially unveiled a special livery for its factory riders, Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, for the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy at the Mugello circuit. This new visual identity is part of the celebrations for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer's 100th anniversary and will be used exclusively during Sunday's main race.

The livery launch comes amidst a challenging performance period for the factory squad. Despite Bagnaia's historical dominance at Mugello with victories from 2022 to 2024, and Marquez's status as the defending Italian GP winner, neither has secured a single Grand Prix victory so far in the 2026 season. This trend highlights a performance gap between the factory effort and Ducati's satellite operations.

Analytically, Ducati's victory distribution this season has shifted toward the satellite teams. Alex Marquez took the win at Jerez, while Fabio Di Giannantonio of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team dominated in Catalonia. This suggests that the satellite team setups are currently more adaptive to diverse track characteristics than the configurations utilized by the Ducati Lenovo Team.

The psychological and technical pressure is amplified by their current standing in the championship. Pecco Bagnaia trails title leader Marco Bezzecchi by 79 points, while Marc Marquez is 85 points adrift from the top. This significant point gap forces both factory riders to rapidly optimize their bike setups at Mugello to halt the momentum of their Aprilia rivals.

The results from the first free practice (FP1) further underscore these challenges. Fabio Di Giannantonio topped the session, while Marc Marquez finished in 15th place. This result reflects Marquez's ongoing physical adaptation phase following shoulder surgery, as well as the factory team's struggle to find optimal grip under Mugello's extreme track temperatures.

The deployment of the 100th-anniversary livery is more than aesthetic; it is a strategic move to rebuild confidence and team morale on home soil. With the support of the Italian crowd, Ducati hopes the anniversary momentum will serve as a catalyst for Bagnaia and Marquez to reclaim their dominance on the Mugello podium.
