Following Evan Bros' alliance with ZX Moto, the Dutch stalwart's switch highlights the rapidly growing influence of Chinese industrial powerhouses in high-level motorsport. QJ Motor operates under the massive Geely umbrella, a conglomerate employing roughly 120,000 workers and housing globally recognized automotive brands including Volvo, Lotus, and Polestar in its extensive portfolio.
For the upcoming 2027 campaign, the squad will field Turkish standout Can Oncu, who finished third in the Supersport World Championship with Kawasaki and secured the runner-up spot with Yamaha. Partnering alongside Oncu will be Dutch rider Zonta van den Goorbergh, filling the highly anticipated second seat in the brand-new factory setup. Zonta, the son of former Grand Prix racer Jurgen van den Goorbergh, brings valuable international experience from his years competing in the fiercely contested Moto2 world championship.
Industry experts believe that with the right operational environment and technical backing, the young Dutch talent can unlock his full potential on production-derived machinery. Ten Kate's legendary tuning headquarters in Nieuwleusen possess the vital expertise required to turn the QJ machine into a regular race-winner, building upon an illustrious legacy that includes twelve world riders' titles achieved across their historic campaigns with Honda and Yamaha. The vast resources of QJ Motor mean that producing the 500 units required for homologation can be executed seamlessly within their ultra-modern production facilities in Wenling.
As reported by Speedweek, QJ Motor is already preparing an updated version of the SRK 800 RS ahead of the 2027 season, while a completely ground-up new supersport machine incorporating deep technical input from the Dutch squad is slated for 2028. Discussions regarding a future superbike project are also actively underway within the management offices. With substantial backing and proven engineering prowess, the new partnership aims to erase memories of early developmental struggles and establish a competitive presence at the front of the grid.
