The Formula 1 technical transfer market has intensified further after McLaren CEO Zak Brown provided a significant update regarding the future of renowned engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. Based on the latest statements, the man long known as Max Verstappen's race engineer at Red Bull could potentially move to Woking much sooner than initially expected, possibly as early as 2027.

According to Motorsport.com, Zak Brown spoke to Sky Sports and expressed optimism that the experienced engineer's transition could happen well ahead of his original contract completion date. This statement serves as a major boost for the technical leadership squad overseen by team principal Andrea Stella as the outfit aims to solidify its championship-winning status.
“I’m optimistic we’ll see him in papaya at some point next year,” he told the broadcaster, highlighting his confidence in bringing the high-profile technical signing on board ahead of schedule.

Earlier in April this year, the Woking-based outfit officially confirmed that Gianpiero Lambiase would assume the role of chief racing officer. Within the updated team structure, he is slated to report directly to team principal Andrea Stella, reinforcing the organization's long-term commitment to sustaining peak performance at the pinnacle of motorsport.
The role of chief racing officer already exists within the team's framework, carrying overall leadership responsibilities for trackside operations. These duties have recently been managed by Andrea Stella alongside his primary role as team principal. Lambiase's eventual arrival will allow Stella to delegate operational oversight and sharpen his focus on overall team leadership.
