Yari Montella has re-signed with Barni Ducati for the 2027 WorldSBK season after delivering a breakthrough 2026 campaign with the Italian team.
Montella and Barni first joined forces in 2023 in World Supersport before progressing together into WorldSBK in 2025 after finishing as Supersport runners-up in 2024. The new agreement means their partnership is set to enter a fifth season.
Montella’s first WorldSBK year showed flashes of potential, but was also marked by crashes and errors. His 2026 campaign has represented a clear step forward, with the 26-year-old currently third in the standings after scoring eight podiums across the opening eight rounds, including seven in the last 10 races.

Given that form, a move to a factory team appeared a logical possibility for a rider heading towards his third WorldSBK season with consistent front-running results. Instead, Montella has chosen stability and continuity with Barni Ducati, extending a project that began in Supersport and has now become one of the stronger stories of the 2026 season.
“Reconfirming another year with Barni was one of my goals after a half of the season like this,” Montella said.
“I want to thank the team because they have shown faith in me for another year. With the next one, it will be five years of collaboration with Barni. With a view to continuity, for such an important project that began in Supersport, this renewal is something that makes me proud,” he added.
Montella stressed that securing his 2027 future does not shift his attention away from the current campaign. He said 2026 remains an important year for both himself and the team, while confirmation for next season allows him to maintain focus on the immediate objective.
Barni Spark Racing team principal Marco Barnabo described the renewal as a natural choice, with the 2026 results showing that work, continuity, and commitment are paying off. He added that the team still needs one final step to be competitive on every circuit, with support from Ducati remaining central to its pursuit of bigger WorldSBK targets.
