Turbulence is hitting Yamaha hard as the manufacturer faces the potential loss of three cornerstone assets in the FIM Supersport World Championship. Following the impending departure of Ten Kate Racing, Can Oncu has indicated his intention to follow his current squad, while reigning world champion Albert Arenas is also expected to exit.
The rider market in WorldSSP is moving at a relentless pace. The news that the Dutch powerhouse Ten Kate Racing is reportedly shifting alliances to Chinese manufacturer QJ Motor for 2027 has landed heavily within the Japanese camp. Although the Nieuwleusen-based outfit has yet to officially confirm the switch, Yamaha has already been informed of Oncu's plan to depart alongside them.
This exodus threatens to strip Yamaha of not only one of its most successful developmental structures but also a major title contender. Compounding the issue, Albert Arenas—the current benchmark in the World Supersport category—appears poised to walk away. The Spaniard currently races for Andrea Quadranti's squad, but contract renewal talks have reportedly broken down completely.

According to paddock insiders, Arenas is anticipated to announce a high-profile move to CFMOTO, a rival Chinese brand aggressively expanding its footprint in production-based racing. This leaves a massive void in the manufacturer's racing roadmap for the upcoming seasons.
Amidst this turmoil, Jeremy Alcoba has emerged as a potential savior. Despite delivering stellar performances under the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing banner this year, there is no room for him next season as the team signed Jaume Masia. Capitalizing on his recent red-hot form—including a double win in Cremona and victory at Estoril—Alcoba is now heavily linked to step into the Yamaha family.
