The Superbike meeting weekend at Estoril Circuit turned into another dominant showcase for Ducati machinery across all competitive heats. Amidst the red machine parade, Bimota rider Axel Bassani quietly orchestrated a masterclass in consistency. Although remaining somewhat under the radar compared to the podium fights, the Italian racer managed to squeeze absolute maximum performance out of his machinery throughout the weekend.
Starting the event from eighth place on the Superpole grid, the rider delivered robust performances to secure solid finishes of seventh, sixth, and fifth. This achievement required sheer physical and mental effort from the very first lap until the checkered flag dropped. Every braking zone demanded total commitment on the limit.
Reflecting on his grueling opening race, the 27-year-old explained the intense physical demands he faced on track. "The first race was really difficult because I gave 120 percent from the first lap to the very end. In every corner and every braking zone, I truly gave everything," he reported.

He further detailed the tyre degradation issues that hindered his pace in the latter half of the distance. "In the opening laps I could make up some positions, but when the tyres dropped after nine or ten laps, it became increasingly hard to maintain my pace. That was my maximum and I gave everything, so I am happy with it," he added.
Heading into the second encounter, his speed peaked as he emerged as the highest-placed non-Ducati competitor on the grid. "I had a really good start, and I rode at the front for a few laps fighting for fourth place. However, from the middle of the race distance onwards, I had major issues with the rear and had many slides, which made me lose ground to the rider ahead," the rider explained.
Analyzing the team technical hurdles, he praised the relentless effort inside the garage to overcome top-speed deficits. "Overall, I think we delivered an unbelievable job in Estoril with the race results. We worked hard with the whole team because we have difficulties, especially on the straights, so we have to make up for everything under braking and in the corners. We must extract the maximum from everything, and therefore I want to thank the team for continuing to give everything. We will continue like this until the end of the season," he concluded.
This low-profile consistency mirrors his standing in the championship standings, where the Italian holds seventh place with 208 world championship points. Heading to the season finale in Jerez, Spain, he remains locked in a tense battle for fifth place against Sam Lowes and Lorenzo Baldassarri.
