At just 14 years old tomorrow, Woolcock has already made waves in drag racing. The young talent took on a dual-entry campaign at the Mildura City Council Sunset Nationals, switching between Junior Dragster and Nitro Voodoo Junior Drag Bike for the first time. Alternating between the two machines, she showcased remarkable adaptability.
"I don't know if intense is the right word, but it was a lot, to be switching between the two classes," Woolcock reflected. "I was quite nervous about it, being my first ever meeting on the bike, but it turned out to be a really great meeting."
Despite her inexperience on two wheels, Woolcock delivered impressive results. She secured top qualifying in the Junior Dragster and claimed her first round win on the bike. "Top qualifying in the Junior Dragster was great, and to get my first round win on the bike in my first ever meeting on it, that was a really good feeling," she added.
Across four passes on the bike, Woolcock improved her times consistently, dropping from a 13-second opening run to 10 seconds by the fourth. "My first pass I ran 13 seconds, which wasn't the best, but I am still working out how to get off the line with the clutch and so on, which we don't have in Junior Dragsters," explained the Year Eight student. "Each run we were going better, so that felt really good and I am looking forward to getting back out there and seeing how else we can improve."
Her performance at Mildura sets her up well for the upcoming All Bike Nationals at Dragway at The Bend on October 10, following a Track Championship round at the same venue this weekend (October 3-4). It will be her third meeting on the bike.
"I am pretty excited for the All Bike Nationals," Woolcock said. "I love that it is a 'just bikes' event. I am a bit nervous, but it will be good." The event will feature ANDRA championship racing for Nitro Voodoo Junior Drag Bike, Nitro Voodoo Modified Bike, Nitro Voodoo Competition Bike, and Motorcycle Transport and Repairs Extreme Bike – with the latter making its Series debut – alongside NDRC Top Fuel Motorcycle and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
With a strong desire to learn and support from ANDRA, Woolcock proves that age is no barrier to competing at a national level. Her Mildura outing signals she is ready for the bigger challenge at the All Bike Nationals.
