Waymo, the autonomous driving company owned by Alphabet, will soon begin testing its self-driving vehicles in Munich, Germany. In the initial phase, vehicles will be driven manually to map local roads and then tested by autonomous driving specialists behind the wheel.
The announcement underscores Waymo's ambition to expand its global footprint. Waymo says it has already been in contact with local, state, and federal authorities in Germany to secure the necessary permits.

With testing in Munich, Waymo is not just catching up with rivals but also opening new opportunities to dominate the European market.
