Heading into the home round at the Mandalika circuit, the VR46 racing team has officially unveiled a striking new livery that carries profound cultural significance. Valentino Rossi’s outfit is proudly supported by title partner Pertamina Enduro, an Indonesian company that has backed the squad since the 2024 season.

For the 17th round of the championship campaign, the team is running a special color scheme to honor its Indonesian partner and pay tribute to the national symbol. The grand unveiling took place on Tuesday in Jakarta, capturing massive attention from motorsport enthusiasts ahead of the action-packed race weekend.

According to an official team press release, the origin of the Garuda stems from Hindu and Buddhist mythology, recognized as the mount or vahana of Lord Vishnu. It was subsequently adapted into Indonesian tradition through mythological tales, ultimately becoming the national symbol of the Republic of Indonesia known as Garuda Pancasila, bearing the national motto of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

The statement further emphasized that the Garuda represents high fighting spirit and immense courage, values that are deeply shared by the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Therefore, for the Pertamina Indonesian GP, this tribute livery is emblazoned across the Ducati Desmosedici GP, featuring the majestic bird spreading its wings across both sides of the motorcycle with its head positioned prominently on the fuel tank.

The dominant palette features traditional Indonesian red and white colors, with white acting as the pristine background while red defines the body of the Garuda. Additionally, golden flames are intricately added, combining seamlessly with the signature fluorescent yellow of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team displayed at the front. As has become a tradition, the stunning livery was designed by renowned artist Aldo Drudi and Drudi Performance.

This fresh look arrives as VR46 looks to bounce back from a thoroughly disappointing Japanese Grand Prix last weekend. At Motegi, Franco Morbidelli crossed the finish line nearly 35 seconds off the lead in 15th place, while teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio struggled home in 18th position after battling technical issues aboard his Ducati.

Those setbacks have seen Fabio Di Giannantonio’s championship aspirations all but evaporate with just six rounds remaining in the 2026 campaign, leaving the Italian rider sitting 103 points adrift of the summit. This weekend’s Indonesian Grand Prix also marks a bittersweet milestone as the final outing for the team with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli as its rider lineup before their respective paddock departures.
