Max Verstappen continued his supreme form by claiming pole position for Formula 1's 2026 sprint race in Singapore, mastering the Marina Bay street circuit with a stellar lap time of 1m31.156s in SQ3. The Red Bull driver only needed a single flying lap to secure his maiden sprint pole of the season, showcasing unmatched precision under the floodlights.
That effort was 0.120s quicker than his closest challenger, George Russell, who drove impressively using an older-spec Mercedes setup. Meanwhile, Russell's teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli struggled to seventh place in the upgraded version of the Silver Arrows, finishing nearly seven tenths adrift of the ultimate pace set by the Dutchman.
Russell will maintain his front-row start alongside Verstappen for Saturday's sprint race, despite facing an upcoming engine penalty for Sunday's main grand prix. Behind the leading duo, Charles Leclerc put his Ferrari in third position, outpacing the McLaren pair of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris who rounded out the top five.

The competitive qualifying hour also featured intense midfield battles and a red-flag period triggered by Sergio Perez in the opening segment. As the grid locks in for the high-stakes sprint encounter, teams are analyzing tire degradation and setup tweaks ahead of what promises to be a demanding race around the tight barriers of Singapore.
