Veda Ega Pratama produced a dramatic late improvement in Moto3 Practice at the Japanese Grand Prix, with the Honda Team Asia rider surging into eighth place after briefly falling outside the direct Q2 qualification zone.
Veda began the session with a lap of around 1:56.9 and remained well outside the leading battle. David Munoz initially set the pace with a 1:55.561.
As the session progressed, Veda continued to cut his lap time. He improved to around 1:56.6 but remained outside the top 10. Even after dropping his time to approximately 1:56.4, he was still down in 15th place.

Veda then began closing the gap to the leaders. He moved up to 11th after getting within 0.674 seconds of Munoz, although he subsequently dropped one position.
The leading time later changed hands when Alvaro Carpe posted a 1:55.419. At that stage, Veda was still 0.816 seconds away from the benchmark.
With five minutes remaining, Veda slipped to 14th, putting him on the final position for riders seeking to secure direct passage into Q2.
He briefly climbed to 12th before dropping back to 14th and then 15th in the closing moments. Just when his position appeared increasingly vulnerable, Veda found a significant improvement on his final flying lap.
Veda pushed on his last flying lap to break into the top eight, finishing Practice in eighth with a reported gap of 0.317 seconds to the fastest time.
Marco Morelli topped the session with a 1:55.280, just 0.016 seconds ahead of Ryusei Yamanaka. Brian Uriarte was third, followed by Alvaro Carpe and Valentin Perrone.
