Veda Ega Pratama Misses Q2 at Jerez Moto3 2026

Moto3, Sportrik Media - Veda Ega Pratama of Honda Team Asia endured a difficult opening day at the 2026 Spanish Moto3 Grand Prix in Jerez after failing to secure a direct place in Qualifying 2 (Q2).

The Indonesian rider struggled in the morning FP1 session, particularly with finding a consistent feeling on the bike, which limited his initial pace. However, notable progress was made during the afternoon Practice session, where he significantly reduced the gap to session leader Maximo Quiles of CFMOTO Aspar Team.

Despite the improvement, his lap time was not enough to break into the top 14 required for automatic Q2 progression, leaving him to face the more demanding route through Q1.

“It was not the best start to the day, especially in the morning session where I struggled a lot with the feeling on the bike,” Veda said in an official team statement.

“We made some changes after FP1, and that helped me feel much more comfortable in the afternoon. The difference was quite big, and I was able to ride with more confidence.”

Veda highlighted the step forward as a positive takeaway, particularly in adapting to the technical demands of the Jerez circuit, which requires precision and stability under braking and corner entry.

“Even though the position is not ideal, I feel positive because we improved throughout the day. I haven’t put together a perfect lap yet, so there is still potential,” he added.

He emphasized that the team will continue working on setup adjustments and performance refinement ahead of the next sessions.

“Tomorrow we will keep working, try different things during practice, and aim to be stronger in qualifying and the race,” he explained.

With Moto3 margins typically extremely tight, the opportunity to recover remains open. The key for Veda will be maximizing one-lap performance in the upcoming sessions to secure a stronger grid position.

The next phase of the weekend will be decisive in determining whether the Indonesian rider can convert his steady progress into a more competitive result at the 2026 Spanish Moto3 Grand Prix.
