Japanese constructor Toyota re-established its benchmark status in the World Endurance Championship by claiming a commanding 1-2 finish on the series' first-ever visit to Barcelona, securing the Hypercar manufacturers' title with a round to spare.
The trio of Brendon Hartley, Sebastien Buemi, and Ryo Hirakawa remained largely unchallenged in the #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid throughout the six-hour race. They successfully navigated changeable wet and dry conditions to beat their sister car driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Nyck de Vries, and Mike Conway.
This impressive result marked the third victory of the season for the #8 crew, giving them a crucial 17-point advantage over their Le Mans 24 Hours-winning squadmates heading into the Monza finale next month. The race started under intense drama as heavy showers earlier in the day forced the entire field to begin on wet tires.

As the race got underway, chaotic early incidents brought out safety car interventions, but the exceptional pace and flawless strategy from the Japanese squad kept them clear of troubles while rivals struggled with tire pressures and track position.
With the #20 BMW failing to score for the third consecutive race due to an early issue, both Toyota crews remain the sole contenders still fighting for the prestigious drivers' championship crown heading to the season-ending showdown at Monza.
