Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has heaped high praise on Red Bull's remarkable development trajectory this season, stating that Max Verstappen's recent run of dominant victories leaves Mercedes urgently needing their latest upgrade package to function properly if they are to fight at the front.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit has enjoyed a stunning return to form recently, highlighted by Verstappen taking consecutive victories in the last two Grands Prix. Amid this major rejuvenation from their rivals, Mercedes has suffered a minor performance dip coinciding with the introduction of new upgrade parts that have thus far fallen short of expectations in terms of pure on-track pace.
Despite the Silver Arrows maintaining a comfortable points buffer across the championship standings—with Andrea Kimi Antonelli even poised to potentially clinch a title this weekend at the United States Grand Prix—Wolff warned that Red Bull will firmly establish themselves as major contenders in next year's championship battle.

Speaking to the media, Wolff acknowledged the exceptional work done by the rival squad in terms of car development and package integration. When you put Verstappen into a car that behaves exactly how he wants it to, the results speak for themselves, with the Dutchman proving to be the benchmark across completely different circuit layouts.
Wolff concluded that Mercedes' immediate competitive response relies entirely on successfully unlocking the potential of their troubled upgrade parts. He emphasized that next season will undoubtedly feature a full-on multi-team fight, with Red Bull right at the heart of the championship contention.
