Teo Martin Becomes First Toyota WRC27 Customer for 2027

Teo Martin Motorsport has become the first customer for Toyota’s all-new WRC27 car after the Spanish team outlined plans to purchase two units for the 2027 FIA World Rally Championship.

The move comes while several questions remain over the future direction of the WRC, but Toyota has already secured its first customer commitment for its next-generation car. Teo Martin Motorsport currently competes in WRC2 with a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 driven by Alejandro Cachon.

The Spanish outfit has announced plans to buy two WRC27-specification cars for the 2027 season. It is also considering the purchase of a third car that would be used exclusively for testing.

Under the WRC27 regulations, manufacturers must be capable of supplying at least 10 customer cars during the first two years of a model’s homologation. In that context, Teo Martin Motorsport’s commitment represents an important early step for Toyota as it builds its customer car base for the new rules cycle.

Speaking on the Spanish Rallycast podcast, team owner Teo Martin confirmed that the purchase of two cars has already been agreed, although the delivery schedule has not yet been finalised.

“My first car will be delivered in December and the second five months later,” Martin said. “I still want to speak with Toyota and ask whether I could have the second car available already for Rally Monte Carlo. I’d also like to know if it will be possible to have a third car dedicated to testing.”

The third car plan remains uncertain, however, because it depends on the factory’s production schedule. Martin said the team does not yet know whether that additional testing car will be possible until Toyota clarifies its production capacity and allocation.

Alongside its World Rally Championship programme, Teo Martin Motorsport has been active in circuit racing for many years, including Formula 4 and TCR, and more recently in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships. Its WRC27 move places the team at the start of Toyota’s customer programme transition towards the 2027 regulations.
