A major shake-up is looming in the WorldSSP paddock as Ten Kate Racing prepares to close its highly successful chapter with its current Japanese manufacturer. The legendary Dutch racing outfit based in Nieuwleusen has reportedly terminated its agreement with Yamaha and is gearing up for a surprising new technical partnership.
According to reports, a multi-year agreement has already been struck with Chinese motorcycle manufacturer QJ Motor, which has aggressive ambitions in international motorcycle racing. While management in Nieuwleusen has chosen neither to confirm nor deny the transition at this stage, close sources have verified that the Yamaha collaboration has indeed been called off.
This transition marks a pivotal turning point for the Dutch squad, which enjoyed immense glory during its years with Yamaha. The partnership yielded multiple FIM Supersport World Championship titles, notably dominated by Dominique Aegerter in 2021 and 2022, alongside stellar performances from Stefano Manzi.
QJ Motor entered the WorldSSP championship back in 2024 through a collaborative effort with a division of the Puccetti team. The Chinese brand is now looking to scale up its racing operations significantly by establishing its own dedicated motorsport department in China and injecting serious financial backing into the series.
On the rider front, important decisions are already falling into place for the upcoming seasons. Can Oncu is slated to remain with the team to lead the new project, while Moto2 competitor Zonta van den Goorbergh has emerged as a prime candidate for the second available seat.
