The intense speculation surrounding the future of Taylor Barnard in the all-electric championship has finally come to an end. The talented British driver has officially been confirmed as part of the driver lineup for the newly minted Fortescue Zero Racing squad for the upcoming campaign.
Barnard’s remarkable journey in Formula E started back in Season 10 when he stepped in as a stand-in for the injured Sam Bird during the Monaco and Berlin E-Prix weekends. His standout performances immediately turned heads and laid the groundwork for a full-time seat in the fiercely competitive electric racing series.
Following a difficult campaign with DS Penske where technical limitations often hindered his raw pace, Barnard brilliantly turned the tide by securing his maiden victory at the season finale in front of his home crowd in London. Despite that high, questions lingered over his next destination as the team navigated a turbulent off-season.
Relief arrived when Fortescue stepped in to enter the championship utilizing Jaguar powertrains under the Fortescue Zero Racing banner. Team Principal Jim Wright wasted no time locking in the young star to lead the ambitious project from its inception.
Reflecting on his new chapter, Barnard shared his enthusiasm in a statement: 'I’m incredibly excited to join Fortescue Zero Racing and be part of building something from the ground up. This is a new team with a huge amount of ambition, and I want to help turn that ambition into results on the track.'
