Shane van Gisbergen successfully turned around a difficult spell by finishing ninth at Las Vegas and backing it up with a strong seventh-place finish at Charlotte, marking a career-best oval performance in the NASCAR Cup Series. This result marked a much-needed form flip following a six-race streak where the Kiwi failed to finish higher than 20th.
The significant performance shift came after rigorous setup changes and experiments by Trackhouse Racing to better understand their machinery. Teammate Ross Chastain also showed competitive pace at the sharp end of the field, alleviating the team's earlier struggles of running outside the top 30.
"I’m glad the team has done better," van Gisbergen said, as reported by Speedcafe. "It was good having Ross up there too. We’ve had too many days of running 30th as a team, so it was good. We’ve made some progress."

After fighting through the field from 27th at the end of Stage 1 to 13th in Stage 2, van Gisbergen surged into seventh by the chequered flag in Stage 3. Meanwhile, fellow driver Connor Zilisch crossed the finish line in 21st position.
"Normally we’re battling for 30th so it was nice to be battling for 10th. Some good progress, so good job everyone," he noted.
Although missing out on this year's Chase playoff cut following a rough run at Daytona, van Gisbergen maintains 17th place in the standings ahead of veteran Brad Keselowski. The team now shifts its focus toward the upcoming race at Phoenix on October 18.
