Senna Agius received a positive response from Tech3 after completing his first test on MotoGP machinery at the Red Bull Ring. The Australian rider was said to have adapted naturally to the premier-class bike ahead of his MotoGP debut in 2027.
Tech3 team manager Nicolas Goyon said Agius was comfortable from his first outing on MotoGP machinery. However, the test did not involve KTM's 850cc prototype being prepared for the 2027 regulations.
Agius instead rode a modified current-generation 1000cc machine fitted with Pirelli tyres. Unofficial reports cited in the source material placed Agius within half a second of Maverick Vinales, who was the fastest rider on a modified 1000cc bike.

Goyon said the size of the MotoGP bike was also better suited to Agius' tall frame. According to the Tech3 manager, the Australian felt that the characteristics of the bike made riding feel more natural than he had experienced previously.
“I think he was also super delighted. We could see the smile on his face. The size of the bike suited much more. He's a tall rider and he felt much more comfortable on a MotoGP bike,” Goyon told MotoGP pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard.
Goyon added that Agius felt everything came more naturally, although Tech3 is not yet drawing major conclusions from the initial test. The team's main preparation work for 2027 will begin after Valencia.
“He just told us that everything comes much more natural, which is always a good sign. Now, the real work will start after Valencia, so let's see there to get some conclusions,” Goyon said.
Agius will form part of Tech3's new rider line-up for the 2027 season alongside Luca Marini. Meanwhile, Vinales returned to action at Motegi after missing races since the Sachsenring in July and following a successful test in Austria.
Goyon said giving Vinales the opportunity to finish the current season with Tech3 remained important, although the rider does not have a MotoGP seat for 2027. Vinales subsequently finished 18th of 22 riders in FP1 at Motegi in damp conditions.
