Senna Agius is gearing up for a major promotion to the premier class of MotoGP for the 2027 season, armed with a technical skill set that he firmly believes shares deep roots with Australian legend Casey Stoner.
Fourteen years after hanging up his helmet, Stoner remains etched in history as one of the most iconic riders in Grand Prix history, renowned for his flamboyant and sideways riding style—a technique forged in the low-grip environment of Australian dirt track racing.
For Agius, matching the remarkable success achieved by his compatriot in the premier class remains a distant dream for now, but he is convinced that his foundational weaponry on two wheels is directly comparable to what Stoner possessed.

Casey was widely recognized for his unique personality both on and off the machine, while his riding technique was simply second to none, Agius told MotoGP.com.
His sheer skill on a motorcycle and the way he handled it resonates with me because my entire skillset originates from the exact same place back home, which is dirt track racing, the young Australian explained.
I simply hope to secure as many world championships as he did and earn that same level of respect within the paddock, Agius added.
The path to the premier class took a massive leap forward earlier this year when Agius was handed his maiden opportunity to sample full-spec MotoGP machinery during the post-race official test session in Austria.
That machine felt absolute like an animal out on the track, he revealed regarding his first impressions of the prototype bike.
On my very first lap, my mind was completely blown away by everything—the pure physics of the motorcycle, the seamless gearbox, and I genuinely could not believe the astonishing stopping power.
You can physically feel all G-forces pushing you back on the straightaways due to the incredible top speed, but the moment you slam on the brakes, you experience that exact same magnitude of force trying to slow you down.
Looking ahead to the 2027 campaign, Agius has set his sights firmly on claiming the rookie of the year honors, carrying the torch as the sole Australian representative on the grid to give his home fans a rider to truly rally behind.
I want my home country to be genuinely proud of me, as that matters deeply to me, he emphasized. I just want to deliver my absolute best for my nation.
I have clear aspirations to become the top rookie because I genuinely feel capable of doing so one hundred percent.
When I look back years from now, I want to know that I left everything on the table during my rookie season, kicking off my MotoGP career in the finest way possible while adapting swiftly.
Pressure is an absolute privilege when it comes to an opportunity like this, and I am ready to do my very best.
