Supercars will kick off the Sandown 500 weekend with back-to-back practice sessions, each lasting 25 minutes. The historic Melbourne circuit will host a fierce battle as drivers fight for a spot in the Finals Series.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Supercars format is identical: a two-part qualifying (Q1 and Q2) followed by a Top 10 Shootout. The main races will start at 3:30 pm AEDT, covering 79 laps or 245 km. Notably, the race distance is slightly shorter than last year's 81 laps.
This change certainly affects team strategy. With a shorter distance, fuel management and tire wear become more crucial. Teams must carefully decide when to attack and when to conserve. Additionally, the two-part qualifying demands consistency and pure speed from the drivers.

Equally important, the Sandown 500 will determine which four drivers advance to the Adelaide Grand Final. Of the seven remaining drivers in the Finals Series, only the top four will contend for the championship. The pressure is immense, especially for those on the bubble.
Supporting categories include the Dunlop Super2 Series, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, Trans Am Cup Series, and Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup. Their presence adds to the weekend's excitement and gives young drivers a chance to shine.
For fans wanting to attend, the full schedule has been released. Supercars practice sessions begin on Friday at 2:40 pm and 3:25 pm. Qualifying and races will take place on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:20 am. Don't miss the action at the Sandown 500.
With a challenging format and tight competition, the Sandown 500 is predicted to be one of the most thrilling races of the season. Who will come out on top? Tune in on November 6-8.
