Roope Korhonen stormed into the WRC2 class lead at Rally Italia Sardinia following a masterclass in consistency and speed throughout Saturday. The Finnish driver capitalized on stages that better suited his driving style to dictate the pace at the front.
Driving for Toyota, Korhonen engaged in a tense battle with closest rival Gus Greensmith. The gap fluctuated between a few seconds up to 15 seconds during the morning loop before the leader steadily pulled away during the afternoon repeated stages.
Heading into Sunday's final stages, the Laukaa native holds a healthy 19.6-second advantage. Small setup tweaks to the car successfully cured the handling struggles he faced on Friday, restoring his optimal rhythm and feel behind the steering wheel.

Despite holding a comfortable cushion, Korhonen insisted he cannot afford to adopt an overly cautious approach on the final day. Maintaining a strong, flowing rhythm remains vital to avoid losing massive chunks of time on the demanding gravel roads.
A fresh challenge awaits on Sunday with completely new stages on this side of the island. Featuring rocky technical sections and soft beach sand on the Power Stage, Korhonen remains fully focused on clinching a sweet victory to cap off his season.
