Rio de Janeiro to Host 2027 MotoGP Season Launch

MotoGP has officially selected Rio de Janeiro as the host of the 2027 Season Launch. The event will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2027, with the iconic Botafogo Beach and Sugarloaf Mountain as the backdrop—making it one of the most spectacular locations in MotoGP history.

After Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, the official MotoGP Season Launch moves to Brazil in 2027. Rio de Janeiro has secured the rights to host the event and will provide the stage for the official start of the new MotoGP season. The main part of the Season Launch is planned at Botafogo Beach, with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background, where all MotoGP teams, riders, and manufacturers will be presented.

MotoGP Builds on Successful Return to Brazil

The choice of Rio de Janeiro follows MotoGP's successful return to Brazil in 2026. During the Grand Prix weekend in Goiania, all available tickets were sold out, and nearly 150,000 spectators attended the event. According to organizers, this once again demonstrated the huge interest in motorcycle racing in Brazil. MotoGP aims to build on that success by bringing the most important pre-season event to the South American country a year later.

The MotoGP Season Launch has become a key part of the calendar in recent years. All MotoGP teams, riders, and manufacturers come together before the first Grand Prix of the season. In addition to official team presentations, the event focuses on fans, international media, broadcasters, and commercial partners.

The hosting city also benefits significantly. The 2026 Season Launch in Kuala Lumpur was reported to have generated over seven million US dollars in economic value.

Grand Festival for MotoGP Fans

MotoGP has big plans for the Rio de Janeiro edition and is already calling it the biggest Season Launch to date. In addition to the official presentation of teams and riders, an extensive entertainment program will be organized. Fans will have the opportunity to see all MotoGP machines up close before they begin the new season. There will also be interviews and appearances by riders, interactive manufacturer presentations, merchandise, and various fan activities.

Music will also play a major role. Internationally renowned artists will perform alongside leading Brazilian musicians and entertainers. Combined with Botafogo Beach and Sugarloaf Mountain, this is expected to create a grand MotoGP festival in the heart of Rio de Janeiro.
