Red Bull Returns to MotoGP with Honda from 2027 Season
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Red Bull will back Honda in the 2027 FIM MotoGP World Championship.

Red Bull and Honda have officially announced their reunion in MotoGP, a move that electrifies the paddock and evokes memories of past glories. The partnership, last seen in 2023, will kick off with Fabio Quartararo and a yet-to-be-confirmed second rider, likely Diogo Moreira, leading the charge.

This collaboration is more than just nostalgia. Honda HRC is gearing up for MotoGP's new era with 850cc machines, and Red Bull's presence is seen as a catalyst to restore the Japanese manufacturer's former glory. HRC President Koji Watanabe expressed his delight: “Honda HRC and Red Bull are two companies that know each other very well through many forms of racing, and I am delighted to restart our collaboration in MotoGP.”

History shows that Red Bull and Honda were together from 2015 to 2023, winning four world titles, including a peak period with Marc Marquez. However, the split came amid a downturn in form and Marquez's departure to Gresini Ducati in 2024. Now, with renewed vigour, both parties are determined to write history again.

For Quartararo, the deal has significant implications. The Frenchman is currently backed by Monster but is expected to relinquish that sponsorship to welcome Red Bull. This decision could be a turning point in his career, as Yamaha continues to chase Ducati and KTM.

Honda HRC team manager Alberto Puig emphasised that their target is nothing less than victory. “Few organisations compete across as many championships as HRC and Red Bull, so this collaboration makes clear and logical sense. Neither party will accept anything less than victory, and that is what we must work towards if we are to make this combination the benchmark once again,” he said.

The agreement also marks Red Bull's return to the MotoGP grid after a hiatus, and although it is not necessarily a naming rights deal, their presence is sure to provide a boost of motivation and resources for Honda. The new 850cc regulations are expected to be a springboard for Honda, which has struggled to compete at the front in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, MotoGP continues its calendar in Japan on October 2-4 at Motegi, where Honda will race in front of its home crowd. Although Red Bull's return won't take effect until 2027, this announcement has already got fans and analysts excited about the new dynamics on track.

With big ambitions and proven chemistry, Honda and Red Bull are ready to challenge the dominance of Ducati and others. If all goes to plan, we might witness the resurgence of the Japanese giant in the near future.
