Facing intense competition in the world motocross championship, the factory outfit from Mattighofen has executed a major internal restructuring behind the scenes of the Red Bull KTM factory team. This strategic decision comes in the wake of a turbulent season and internal dynamics that demanded a leadership refresh to restore their dominance.
The most notable change sees Scottish-born Stefan Simpson taking over the role of team manager. Simpson officially steps into the position previously held by five-time Belgian world champion Joel Smets, marking a fresh chapter for the orange squad following a series of fluctuating results.
The personnel shake-up extends far beyond the top management, affecting several long-standing crew members who have dedicated years to the squad. Among them is team coordinator Valentina Ragni, the Italian stalwart who served as the heartbeat of the garage for seasons. Her vital role has now been handed over to longtime KTM employee Nina Etzkorn.

This administrative instability contrasts sharply with the immense potential displayed on the track, where the squad nearly secured both the MXGP and MX2 world titles. Up to the two-thirds mark of the campaign, the Belgian coenen brothers led both categories under the De Carli team structure managed by Claudio and Davide De Carli.
The team manager position has notoriously experienced a revolving door in recent years. Following Dirk Grubel's successful era from 2015 to 2022, KTM icon Antonio Cairoli took the reins in 2023 before moving to Ducati Corse, followed by Harry Norton in 2024 and subsequently Joel Smets before the latest appointment of Simpson.
