Isack Hadjar will continue as Max Verstappen's teammate at Red Bull Racing for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The confirmation ends speculation about the young Frenchman's future, who has shown promising performances since his promotion to the senior team.
Hadjar was initially promoted to Red Bull for the 2026 season after an impressive rookie campaign with sister team Racing Bulls the previous year. The 21-year-old replaced Yuki Tsunoda, who struggled against Verstappen throughout a troubled 2025 season.
The 2026 season has gone more smoothly for Hadjar compared to his predecessors. Despite missing three races due to a wrist injury sustained during training over the summer break, he has shown speed and consistency. He currently sits eighth in the drivers' championship with 71 points, while Max Verstappen leads with 145 points.
Red Bull's decision to retain Hadjar reflects the team's confidence in his potential. Since joining, he has recorded several solid results, including points finishes in multiple races. Despite his injury, he is scheduled to return to the cockpit at this weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.
With his contract extended, Hadjar can now focus on maximizing the remainder of the 2026 season and preparing for 2027. Stability in the second Red Bull seat also benefits Verstappen, who is in a tight battle for the world championship.
This confirmation also deals a blow to other drivers linked to the seat, such as Yuki Tsunoda or other Red Bull junior drivers. However, Hadjar's consistent performance has left team management in no doubt about giving him their full trust.
