Raul Fernandez has been officially declared unfit to race in the main Grand Prix event at Phillip Island after failing a medical evaluation ahead of Sunday's action. The Spanish rider was forced to withdraw from the Australian weekend following complications stemming from a finger fracture sustained earlier in the season at the Indonesian round.
The demanding physical nature of the fast Australian venue proved too much for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider to handle safely. His ongoing physical struggles trace back to a crash in Mandalika which resulted in a broken index finger on his right hand—a particularly delicate injury given its critical role in operating the front brake of his Aprilia RS-GP26 machine.
Despite the persistent discomfort, Fernandez bravely attempted to push through the pain barrier during Saturday's sprint race. However, the excruciating pain severely hindered his riding capacity, forcing him to abandon the 13-lap sprint on the ninth lap as his pace dropped significantly under intense physical strain.

Following the session, the rider underwent a thorough examination with the MotoGP medical director. While scans confirmed that the bone fracture itself remained structurally stable, doctors detected severe inflammation in the soft tissues surrounding the fracture site, which explained the intense discomfort he experienced while braking and turning.
With only 18 riders set to line up on the grid due to a wave of injuries affecting names like Joan Mir and Luca Marini, the premier class grid faces a depleted lineup. Reported by Motosan.es, this latest setback deals a heavy blow to Trackhouse as they navigate a physically punishing phase of the championship calendar.
