A remarkable feat was just achieved by Raul Fernandez in the international motorcycle racing paddock. Against all expectations, the talented Spaniard managed to secure a stunning podium finish despite enduring severe physical pain from a broken finger.
The ordeal originated during the Sprint race when an unfortunate racing incident involving him and Marco Bezzecchi resulted in a fractured finger. Crucially, it was the exact digit he relies on to operate the front brake lever of his Trackhouse-backed Aprilia machine.
With such a debilitating injury, pre-race expectations were understandably meager, and nobody anticipated a podium celebration. Speaking to DAZN, the Madrid-born racer confessed that he woke up genuinely believing he would be forced to sit out the main Grand Prix entirely.

"Esta manana me he levantado pensando que no corria. No se muy bien, no tengo palabras. La verdad que la carrera, creo que es lo menos importante," expressed Raul Fernandez, highlighting the frantic medical efforts by his physiotherapists who taped his finger directly onto the handlebar to make the start possible.
Despite the immense technical hurdles and having to alter his braking technique completely mid-race, he gritted his teeth to survive the grueling distance and claim an unforgettable runner-up result.
