RallyOne will begin testing its first car in August as part of preparations for a possible FIA World Rally Championship debut in 2027. The project has completed the initial technical study and vehicle design phase after eight months of development involving a team of 17 specialists.

The programme is taking advantage of a major change within the new FIA WRC27 regulations, which will allow private manufacturers classified as “Tuners” to enter the championship’s leading category for the first time. The framework gives independent operations an opportunity to design their own cars and compete at the highest level without being established automotive manufacturers.

RallyOne is led by Lionel Hansen, while Alain Penasse oversees sporting operations, competition strategy and preparations for entering the WRC. Jeremy Chevallereau coordinates the technical programme with suppliers and subcontractors, while Florent Biard leads vehicle design and development with support from Faster Racing’s engineering staff.

According to German publication Rallye-Magazin, the first tubular chassis produced for 2027 homologation is now in the final stage of manufacture before undergoing FIA technical approval. Components for the initial development car are also progressing through production, with the remaining parts expected to arrive shortly.

Assembly of the first car will begin in August in accordance with the final Rally1/WRC27 technical regulations. RallyOne also plans to start an initial programme of at least six test sessions during the same month before moving into a more intensive performance-development phase.

The first objective will not be outright speed, but validation of the reliability of every component across different surfaces. Once the principal systems, chassis structure and mechanical parts have been proven, the programme will shift towards vehicle set-up and performance optimisation.

Testing will take place on both gravel and asphalt, two surfaces that require different chassis, suspension and vehicle-response characteristics. The outcome of that programme will determine whether RallyOne can remain on schedule to complete its first two competition cars before the end of 2026.

The next six months will be decisive because the team must complete its technical validation while also establishing the operational foundation required for a world championship campaign. RallyOne is also seeking support from a manufacturer or strategic partner to continue development and have the car ready to compete from the start of the 2027 WRC season.
