The motorsport world paused to honor two legendary figures who shaped the rich history of rallying during this weekend's Rallylegend event. The gathering provided an emotional tribute to Sandro Munari and Alex Fiorio, two iconic names representing a golden era when rally cars carried the pure scent of gasoline and African dust.
Five mechanical masterpieces lined up inside the Rallylegend Village as rolling relics honoring Munari, who passed away in February at the age of eighty-five. The lineup featured the 1977 Monte Carlo winning Stratos, the 1975 Safari machine, the Mugello Fulvia Barchetta, the Sanremo 131 Abarth, and the European championship-winning Fulvia.
During the Munari Tribute Expo presentation hosted by Nicola Villani, living legends such as Markku Alen, Miki Biasion, Stig Blomqvist, and Franco Cunico gathered to remember a time when drivers relied purely on machines and raw courage. The event also highlighted the unsung heroes from Corso Marche 38, acknowledging the mechanics without whom the legendary driver would never have achieved greatness.

The spotlight then shifted to the podium to celebrate Alex Fiorio, with Claudia Peroni narrating alongside rallying greats including Andrea Aghini and Piero Liatti. Authentic machines like the 1987 Sanremo Delta 4WD and the Monte Carlo Uno Turbo underscored an era when motorsport felt intensely personal rather than corporate.
The commemorative spirit will soon travel south to Ceglie Messapica for the sixth edition of the Fiorio Cup, now named the Alex Fiorio Trophy. Mariapaola Fiorio proudly carries forward her father's legacy, ensuring that the passion for rallying continues to thrive on the dirt tracks of Masseria Camarda.
