Izan Guevara has officially been promoted to MotoGP by Pramac Yamaha for the 2027 season. The 22-year-old Spaniard will partner Toprak Razgatlioglu at the satellite squad, taking the seat vacated by Jack Miller, who announced his MotoGP exit on Thursday morning.
The announcement completes Yamaha's rider line-up across its two teams for next year. Guevara, a product of Yamaha's rider development programme, earned his promotion after a strong Moto2 campaign. He currently sits second in the standings, 42.5 points behind leader Manu Gonzales, with 10 rounds still to go.
For Guevara, this is the culmination of a long and arduous journey. "This is a dream come true for me," he said. "Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know how difficult it is to arrive in the premier class. It has taken many years of hard work and sacrifices." He thanked Yamaha for their confidence but stressed that his immediate focus remains on challenging for the Moto2 title before moving to the bigger stage.
Guevara's world championship career has been eventful. He clinched the Moto3 title in just his second season with Aspar, showcasing immense raw talent. However, his transition to Moto2 in 2023 proved challenging. His fortunes turned after joining Pramac's Moto2 squad last year, culminating in a victory at Valencia. This season, he has been even more impressive, winning at Le Mans and securing podiums at Austin and the Sachsenring.
Yamaha's team principal, Paolo Pavesio, praised Guevara's growing maturity on track. He believes the regulation reset in 2027 presents a perfect opportunity for Guevara to step up. "Izan's promotion to MotoGP is a great example of what the BLU CRU programme was designed to achieve," Pavesio explained. "We have known Izan's talent for many years. His speed on the way to becoming Moto3 world champion left no doubt about his potential. After two challenging seasons in Moto2, we made a mutual commitment to help him reach MotoGP."
With Guevara on board, Yamaha's rider line-up for 2027 is now complete. At the factory team, Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins remain, while at Pramac, Guevara will join Razgatlioglu. This decision underscores Yamaha's commitment to building its future around young talent.
For Miller, stepping away from MotoGP opens a new chapter in his career, though his next destination has not been announced. Meanwhile, Guevara will aim to finish his Moto2 season on a high note with the championship title before preparing for the biggest challenge of his career.
