Pedro Acosta believes he could have a different advantage as the 2026 MotoGP season reaches its decisive stages. After enduring what he described as a difficult year, the KTM rider feels he has less to lose than the riders directly fighting for the world championship.
Speaking on October 1, 2026, Acosta also reflected on the long-awaited achievement he had spent so much time chasing. However, when the moment finally arrived, he admitted it did not carry the emotional impact he might have expected after imagining it so many times.
“I had been chasing this for so long that emotionally it didn't mean anything, you know?” Acosta said.

He explained that the moment had already played out in his mind countless times, making the reality feel less different than expected.
“I already said it was like I had imagined it so many times in my head that it didn't really change much, you know?” he added.
Acosta is now focused on seeing how the remaining races develop. Rather than setting a specific expectation, he is prepared to take advantage if an opportunity presents itself.
“So, well, let's see how it goes here. If the opportunity arises, we'll be here,” Acosta said.
The KTM rider believes his position could become particularly useful when the championship pressure increases. While the leading contenders have points and the title at stake, Acosta feels he can approach the final races with fewer risks hanging over him.
“In the end, we are the ones with the least to lose, we've been suffering all year,” he explained.
That difference in pressure could become significant as the championship battle intensifies. With the title contenders focused on each other, Acosta believes he could find opportunities that might otherwise be harder to take.
“So now it's also our point that when the others are fighting for the championship, maybe we have a better chance,” Acosta said.
His reasoning is straightforward: after the struggles of the season, there is little left for him to protect.
“Because like I say, we have nothing, nothing to lose,” Acosta concluded.
