Heading into the final stages of the 2026 season, Pedro Acosta has made it abundantly clear that his sole priority is extracting maximum performance for KTM, refusing to play any favors in the championship showdown involving his incoming 2027 teammate Marc Marquez and Aprilia.
The Spanish sensation firmly shut down any notion of team orders or allegiances on track when speaking to MotoGP.com's Elliot York. With his sights firmly set on finishing his current chapter on a high note, Acosta emphasized that friendships are left outside the pit lane once the visor goes down.
"No, I mean, no friends around," Acosta told MotoGP.com. "At the end, I'm in KTM, and like I say during the season, I will try to bring the best result I can until the last day, and then next year will be another one."
Currently sitting fifth in the World Championship standings ahead of the Australian Grand Prix—just one point behind Trackhouse Aprilia's Ai Ogura—Acosta is eager to secure more silverware before switching factories. Phillip Island holds fond memories from his rookie campaign where he secured a Sprint podium and a strong top-five finish in the Grand Prix race.
"Last year was not bad at all. Sprint podium, top five in the race. It true that we were quite far from the winning guy. But anyway, let's see what is going on," Acosta reflected. However, he acknowledged that Aprilia has taken a massive step forward with their package, turning the iconic coastal layout into a major battlefield.
